David Foster Wallace, Ana Nance, and Cruise Ships

I thought a lot about David Foster Wallace this weekend, and wanted very much to post an excerpt from his collection of essays, A Supposedly Fun Thing I’ll Never Do Again– specifically, the namesake essay, which chronicles the excess and unending hilarity and trauma that a high-end cruise entails.

But I failed, and could not find a proper excerpt. And I just couldn’t bring myself to retype it. The second part of my mission was to find accompanying photos, and I was a bit better at this task. Ana Nance has a lot of nice travel images. Here are seven from her. They don’t quite match DFW’s acerbity, but I like them very much.
