John Clang’s got my number: I’m a New Yorker, but right now, I’d rather be in Reykjavik. Clang’s project, nyc 64.1ºn 21.9ºw, abducts New Yorkers (right off the street!) and plops them down in an idyllic environment far from home.
Good craftsmanship aside, I’m pleased by the muted quality of the colors here, and how no one is aware of the camera. They read almost like postcards from the future, when we’ve all set up shop in Greenland and Iceland, and google earth has some serious capabilities.

Interesting idea, but unfortunately the composites don’t look very good at all- it totally ruins the effect. Shadows are going the wrong way, and the light is totally different in them.
Eric, that’s exactly why I like them – the mismatch in light/shadows makes them even more surreal, like postcards from ’50’s or something. Anybody else agree/disagree?
I like the concept, but can’t say I like the actual result. And the fourth picture down, with no objects to reference scale, makes the people feel much too large.
He’s just a genius, i love his ideas.
