		<description>&quot;According to Ken Rockwell, the World&#039;s Angriest Photographer, these lenses are a) kinda meh on quality, although they do have a higher blade count, and b) not actually made by Zeiss, but produced by Cosina under license.&quot;
Ken only reviewed the Zeiss 50/1.4, which is an old design and not very special compared to modern lenses from Canon and others. Some of the Zeiss lenses, like the 35/2 Distagon and 50/2 Makro Planar are new designs and extraordinary performers. It is true that they are manufactured by Cosina, but the Zeiss Cosina lenses are designed by Zeiss, and each lens is individually tested for quality by Zeiss employees after production by Cosina. In contrast, Leica lenses from Panasonic are designed by Panasonic and then the designs are approved for Leica branding.
If anyone is interested, I&#039;ve just started a Zeiss Users Forum at www.ziforums.com. It is for all Zeiss users of both classic and modern equipment.

		<description>This is awesome for these reasons:
1) Sony doesn&#039;t collaborate with Zeiss by accident (and their lenses were the only thing I envied!)
2) Zeiss definately has a reputation to lose, so I&#039;m not all worried about quality issues...
3) My family comes from Oberkochen (near Stuttgard, Germany), the location of Zeiss&#039; headquartes and my grand parents used to work for Zeiss. (Alright, this is def. a soft factor by it&#039;s cool to me!)
Cheers from Switzerland - Nicolas
P.S. Congrats on the new (continued) blogging! I&#039;m glad keep on going!!!

		<description>Ok you got me at automatic focus confirmation, that&#039;s pretty awesome.
I tend to discount Ken Rockwell for the simple fact that he reviews things that he&#039;s never actually held in his hand. A major achievement.

YMMV.
