I have learned a lot about Alaska lately. I think we all have. It’s been Alaska awareness month or something, I’m not sure why. In any case, today seemed like the day to post pictures from that great Arctic paradise, and I could think of no photographer more interesting to feature than Corey Arnold.
Here’s the thing about Corey: not only is he a photographer, but he’s also an Alaskan king crab fisherman.
Those folks up there sure like to multi-task! I wonder if Mr. Arnold eats Caribou or wears lipstick.
Without further ado, some images:

I just took a peek at Arnold’s blog and came across a man tank-surfing in Galveston, Texas. Really.

And also, this guy.

Wow indeed on that last one. It’s Santa Rooney!
Yes, Corey not only fishes, Corey rocks! I really enjoy his photography.
By the way, nice blog Rachel
The depth of field in that second photograph with the birds is perfect.
And those two photos of the flock of seagulls and waves show so much power. They carry so many similarities in movement, color, and energy that they would make a great diptych.
Great photos, they bring back memories. Fell in love with Alaska on a trip there in 1989. Road trip for photography (Iwas a beginner then) starting in San Francisco. Then through Northern California, Canadaian Rockies (Also fantastic), the Yukon and then to Fairbanks and Denali. One day I might get back as I am fairly handy with a camera now! Chris
