Deputy Photo Editor Position
PARADE, the most widely read magazine in America, has an opening in itsmidtown Manhattan office for a Deputy Photo Editor. Applicants shouldhave at least seven years magazine experience, including extensiveexperience with celebrity photo shoots: developing and executingcreative concepts, enlisting and working with top-flight photographersand their staffs, negotiating with publicists and agents, and managingtalent on the set.
The Deputy Photo Editor reports to the Photo Editor. Otherresponsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:working closely with the Editor, Creative Director, Art Director and Photo Editor on storyconcepts; helping to manage the Photo Department and administer itsbudget; conceiving and assigning photography to illustrate news and service stories;reviewing portfolios and published work in order to enlarge themagazine’s stable of photographers; negotiating photography rates and fees; and obtaininghigh-quality imagery from stock houses. The successful candidate willbe collaborative, detail-oriented, a good negotiator, and able tomanage multiple projects at the same time. A bachelor’s degree inphotography or a related field is required.
