I am the kind of person who will spend forty minutes googling “Kromfohrlander”, trying to find an American breeder of the adorable German dog breed. Even though I’m not in the market for a dog. I just want to look at puppy pictures.
And so, like the rest of the country, I am captivated each year when once again it is time for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
This is the big one, my friends. And it comes to Madison Square Garden in four days. Go to the site and see for yourself; there’s a countown clock. The other thing about this dog show? It’s a photographer’s dream. Great access to backstage, and hilarious dog/human interactions at every turn.

I can’t wait to see the 2009 crop of photos. For now, feast your eyes on some of Landon Nordeman‘s from last year.
Genius.

See you at the show, Bitches!*
*get it?

love ur blog!
You think dog shows are crazy? You should see cat shows!
This photographer has a few photos of that stuff up on his site: http://www.dustinfenstermacher.com
My kind of dog show photos, not that shitty boring dog show pose stuff
I think these photos by Nordeman are great! Having grown up around the dog show scene these are such an accurate portrait, although pretty tame. The timing and composition on the top photo is great. Then again the second photo truly does show an owner/ handler taking on the same characteristics.
I think as candid photos these are a lot of fun and show a lightheartedness that gets lost in the dog eat dog world.
Hi Norman
Love it and your work is fantastic at capturing those moments, my friend is a dog trainer and dog enthusiast and I have visited and taken some photos at dog events and its great. Alison
It still amazes me when you see dogs enjoying themselves, love the great dane and (not sure what the little one is) having a chat…
Awesome Ppictures, thanks for the blog!
So cool photography, everyone is so lively even on black and white effects…
