Here is my requisite I’m-obsessed-with-Abe-Morell-did-I-tell-you post; I make one every couple of months, every time I see some more of his work. So here are the latest jaw-droppers:

Camera Obscura: 5:04 AM Sunrise Over the AtlanticOcean. Rockport, Massachusetts, June 17th, 2009

Camera Obscura: View of Florence Looking Northwest Inside Bedroom. Italy, 2009

Camera Obscura: View of Landscape Outside Florence in Room With Bookcase. Italy, 2009

Camera Obscura: View of Landscape Outside Florence Looking East Toward Where Galileo Died in Exile. Italy, 2009

Camera Obscura: Garden With Olive Tree Inside Room With Plants, Outside Florence. Italy, 2009
*These two aren’t as new but I hadn’t seen them yet, and Whoa.

Santa Maria della Salute in Palazzo Livingroom. Venice, Italy, 2006

The Philadelphia Museum of Art, East Entrance in Gallery #171 with a deChirico Painting, 2006
OK, moving on from Morell- I wanted to post some of Matthew Monteith‘s pictures from his project Czech Eden. It seems like several excellent folks have made pictures here, and they always turn out rather well (check out Marni Horwitz’s work a few posts down).
ALSO- It seems like this great nation attracts a lot of nudists. Or perhaps the weather is just balmy.

Have a pleasant Monday.

These are the first I have seen of Morell’s “righted” photographs (with the image right-side up). So incredible! Camera Obscura: 5:04 AM Sunrise Over the Atlantic Ocean. Rockport, Massachusetts, June 17th, 2009 is my favorite photograph at the moment. Thanks for pointing these out.
Swoon.
Re: Abelardo Morell, yes, yes, yes. This makes me want to start my own blog to declare my own love for him and others. There’s a comment on the Winogrand post about how for a certain age group of male photographers think he is God. I must have missed it by a year, then. I love guys like Morell, Sugimoto, Richard Barnes. They make cooler work, but I too am swooning.
Rachel, your obsession is justified and healthy.
