Diana from Down Under! With Stacy Mehrfar.

| More

My buddy Stacy Mehrfar moved to Australia last year and has been quite active from the land down under, working hard to promote her excellent project American Palimpsests and continuing to make new work. I woke up today to a note from Stacy and a few dozen Diana camera shots in my inbox. What fun! Disco balls, giraffes, mattresses and tennis- these Aussies are having a hell of a time. Have a look.

The email:
“I read your post about the Lomo ads and I thought its time I share some new images with you.

When I moved to Sydney I bought myself a Diana F+. I was having a hard time photographing here and thought that the Diana would free me from the need to produce images with a concept. And generally bring me back to just enjoying the act of taking pictures.

And so I started shooting my encounters down under in a very carefree manner, with a camera that produced unpredictable images. I soon realized that my brain cannot make pictures without thinking about their meanings and I started to really be conscious of the types of images I created with Diana. Since last December I have been shooting a new project, tentatively titled, Diana Goes to Australia. The images are visually different than my previous works, but I think that there are parallels nonetheless. “

  1. Love it. Great eye, and the Goddess Diana certainly let the randomness of “spot on” go thru the lens. I like how you use the Diana to act as a creative colon cleanser. I have times with a lens baby thats like that.
