I love the loose, painterly quality of Mark J. Davis‘ documentary work. Recently Davis drove his Volkswagen Westfalia with outer-space curtains to Mississippi, and here’s the result.
I like how it feels like a story. The tractor shot is my favorite.

beautiful pictures… Detroit might be the next logical place if this series were to be continued. I would say at least half the people I came in contact with in Detroit were originally from Mississippi (or their parents were from Mississippi). They all came for jobs, and steadily over the last 25+ years the jobs have almost entirely disappeared. (same could probably be said of Cleveland, Pittsburg, Buffalo etc.)
