Ok, I was a little late on the M8 and you folks let me know it, but I don’t think I’m late on this one.
I’m talking about the latest Wrangler ad campaign. It seems these jean-maker people CANNOT GET ENOUGH of the whole Ryan McGinley-we-love-to-be-skinny-and-naked-and-unwashed-and-run-around-canyons aesthetic.
I mean, they loved it when they actually employed McGinley. And then Levis loved it so much that THEY employed McGinley.
But at least McGinley actually in real life runs around naked with skinny girls in canyons, ya know?
But now they have another photographer, Jeff Burton, just copying the same thing. For the record, Jeff does has experience with naked people.

But more abstract, like these from Dreamland, his work from porn sets.

But come on- I mean- this is just a McGinley rip off. Right?
I feel like Burton’s too good a photographer to just allow himself to copy someone else completely.
Also, this is a reeedunculous campaign.
WHAT’S WITH THE RED? Is red sexy?

Good lord, there are so many of them.

Have an animalistic day. Cause ya know, we’re all animals.

When I look at these pictures I feel itchy and want to take a shower.
haha. yeah, it doesn’t get much more blatant than that. I like the red powder shot though.
the shot in the red water is a guy.

Simply awesome.
I really like the campaign, very powerful!
Hi Rachel!
This pics look like they’re taking a cue from the Hindu celebration called Holi…maybe you’ve seen the images of revelers throwing heaps of colored powder (and water) on each other.
I like the campaign even if it’s schizophrenic and a bit nonsensical and some of the images have bad photoshopping. It’s still better than 90% of the stuff I see out there!

I just don’t see anything inspiring or creative. Seen it all before.
