Train of Thought!

Three from the Womb, Three from the Twinkie.

| More

Somehow these two picture stories relate, dontcha think?

1. These amazing embryonic animal photographs of dolphins, sharks, dogs, penguins, cats and elephants are from a new National Geographic Documentary called “Extraordinary Animals in the Womb”. The show’s producer, Peter Chinn, used a combination of three-dimensional ultrasound scans, computer graphics and tiny cameras to capture the process from conception to birth. They are the most detailed embryonic animal pictures ever seen.

UPDATE: this pictures are made from models (hear from our intrepid reporter Phil in the comments section). But they’re still cool.

2. The photographer Dwight Eschliman was never a health nut himself, but he was raised by one; his mom kept her kids away from meat, dairy, or any kind of processed food. When Eschilman went away to college, he loosened up a bit, allowing himself to indulge in all sorts of previously forbidden treats, but by the time he had kids of his own, he found a renewed appreciation for simple, healthy food—and a renewed skepticism of chemical-filled, preservative-laden snacks. He’d also developed a love of disassembling ojects and photographing their component parts.

Discussion

One comment for “Three from the Womb, Three from the Twinkie.”

  1. i think the Nat Geo images are models. Here’s the elephant that you have shown above:

they have a photo in that slide show of the dolphin embryo model being filmed in a water tank. and other models in process of being built.

    fyi.

I don’t know where the misrepresentation comes from that these are the real thing. I wish Nat Geo was above the fray when it came to second-guessing the authenticity of photos.
I think it’s important to report from the source, rather than from something like thisblogrules. it never mentions models.
