We’ve already had some fun being pregnant with Jennifer Becker this week, and now we will ask her about her lighting setup. (I’m leaning towards getting an additional 580EX and a Pocketwizard, in case you’re wondering.) Because too much too soon can just be too much too soon. Soooo, Jennifer! Tell us how you light things!
I try to make everything as simple as possible when I light. I’m always so focused on the subject and how they work with the environment that I just use the light to help enhance that and bring them out a bit. For me one to two lights are plenty. Most of the time I light with a single umbrella or softbox but lately I’ve been having fun with my beauty dish. I have a set of Calumet Travelites which I use most of the time unless I’m on location.
In that case I have a super old Norman which is amazing. I generally light the entire subject but try to give it just a little pop. I bounce a lot of light off the ceilings and walls since I always seem to be shooting in small rooms or tight situations. Most of the time I’m using my Canon 1DS Mark 2 or a Hasselblad.
