Excellent mailbag submission today. This is from Jan Schreiber, who is hopping cargo ships and making some beautiful, hazy, watery work:
Last year I decided to explore Australia. I bought a ticket aboard a Cargo Ship and embarked on my 2 month journey. By the time I reached the Australian shore, I had taken over 250 shots of the sea and the ships and islands passing by.
I spent weeks editing the proofs and finally ended up with a collection of 14 images.
SOMEWHERE BETWEEN THE SHORES is the title of this project.

These are the kind of image that yank involuntary tears out of my body. The zen of vast expanse, the tonality of the images, with the wee little busy shadows on the water make a touchingly beautiful composition. It’s hard not to love stuff like this.
